Sixteen seasons, one region title, a stadium built by the people who sit in it, and a hundred and twelve wins. Most of what matters here is not in this list.

How we got here

2010

Program founded

Summit Academy fields its first varsity football team, playing an independent schedule.

2013

First region title

The Bears win the 1A North outright at 8–1, the program's first championship of any kind.

2016

Bear Hollow Field opens

Turf, lights and a 1,800-seat grandstand replace the practice field the program started on.

2018

State semifinal run

A 10–2 season ends one game short of the 2A title game.

2021

First D1 signee

Marcus Vaifanua signs with Utah State — the first Bear to sign at the FBS level.

2023

Weight room expansion

A community and booster-funded build doubles the strength facility and adds full force-plate testing.

2025

2nd in 2A North

3–1 in region, with six All-Region selections and a Defensive MVP.

Traditions

What we do here

Programs are not built out of schemes. These are the three things that have not changed.

The Bear Walk

Two hours before kickoff the team walks the length of Porter Rockwell from the school to the field. Students line both sides. It has happened before every home game since 2014.

Gold Helmets

Gold decals are not issued in August. They are earned — one per All-Region, state placement or 4.0 semester. Some seniors finish with none.

Fifth Quarter

Win or lose, the team stays on the field twenty minutes after the whistle with families and youth-league players. No exceptions.

Facilities

Bear Hollow Field

Opened in 2016 on the site of the original practice field. Full turf, lights, 1,800-seat grandstand, and a strength facility that doubled in 2023 with force-plate testing — which is where the verified numbers on every recruiting profile come from.
